I’ve made a decision for 2010. I really wanted to do Chicago, but I just don’t have the funds for that. If I get into NY, I can stay with my friend and fly there for $200 at the most. It’s the best I can do with what I’m working with here. If I don’t get into New York – I’ll find out in March – then I’ve got Philly as a back up. Another one that can be done on the cheap. Though, if I don’t get into New York, I might just skip the marathon in 2010. I’m ok with RACING the half next year.
I had no running goals for this year. I really just wanted to get better. It’s been rough and I keep twisting ankles and knees, but overall I feel pretty darn good. I’m not happy with how this year went running wise, but I’m not disappointed either. I was busy getting better and overcoming my illness.
So what does 2010 have in store? Besides the prospect of New York, I’ve got a couple of half marathons in the Winter/Spring. I then want to just build a nice solid base of about 40 miles per week. I think this will help me even if I don’t do a marathon in the Fall. (You know I’ll want to run a marathon. Who are we kidding?) Anyway, if I’m doing the full that’ll be the rest of my year. If not, I want to take on several of the local half marathons. See if I can lower my time. I’m being awfully vague aren’t I? Here’s what I’d like for 2010:
- Stay healthy
- Do more racing – primarily shorter distances
- Run under 4:30 for the full
- Break 2:10 for the half
- 25:00 5k
- Have fun!
I think these times are doable with some work. I’d also like to PR in the 5 mile in March. I’m not sure what my PR is in that. I need to look it up. Whatever it is, I want to run faster.
All in all, even though I want all of these faster times I really just want to run healthy and be happy. With that, everything else is just gravy. As my tattoo says, “Every Breath is A Gift!” If I’m running, I’m happy!
What are your running/fitness goals for 2010?
