I’ve managed to bite my tongue here on the entire Haiti situation. I don’t want to stick my foot in it, and now really isn’t the time to get all preachy. HOWEVER, I stumbled across this link on www.theangryblackwoman.com. The links to some of the basic history on Haiti and information explaining why Haiti is a third world country are great. I also think poining out the different aid coming from other countries is on point. Our media makes it sound like ONLY America is helping them.
I’m also glad that they call the media out on referring to people trying to survive as “looters”. Looters go after tvs and stuff like that during riots. The Haitians are trying to eat and find water. Further, if I have to hear one more reporter worry about violence I am going to scream. And the showing of dead bodies everywhere? Ugh…All of this reeks of ”look at the poor black people – we must save them.” Bleh. I’m going to end this now because I do not want to get all stabby/Fear of a Black Planet on y’all.
